Help us identify and support the next generation of energy innovators

Applications are now open for the 2027 TechX Energy Transition Accelerator

and we're asking you to help spread the word.

We're seeking ambitious startups developing breakthrough technologies that can accelerate the transition to a clean, affordable, and resilient energy system.

If you work with innovative founders, spin-outs, researchers, early-stage ventures or scale-ups tackling energy transition challenges, we'd be grateful if you could share this opportunity across your network and encourage suitable companies to apply.

Why recommend TechX? Selected startups will receive:

  • Up to £50,000 in grant funding*
  • A place on our 12-week accelerator programme
  • Tailored support from NZTC's expert mentors and global industry partners
  • Access to a powerful network of investors, energy experts and potential customers

Whether you're supporting university spin-outs, venture-backed startups, research-led innovators, or high-growth technology companies, TechX provides the expertise, connections, and industry access needed to help promising businesses succeed.

Applications close on 21 September 2026 at 23:59 BST.

Please share this opportunity with startups in your network that are developing technologies with the potential to drive the energy transition forward.

*Note: Each startup awarded a place on the programme must sign an Advanced Subscription Agreement (ASA) before the programme starts. The ASA is also known as a SAFE or Simple Agreement for Future Equity. Under the ASA, the grant funding from NZTC converts into equity held by NZTC under certain conditions

We're looking for ambitious multi-founder teams developing a novel technology in Clean Power, Clean Fuels or Clean Production.

Applicants should be pre-commercial, at a technology readiness level (TRL) of between 3 (experimental proof of concept) and 6 (technology prototype demonstrated in a relevant environment).

You must have ambition to deploy your technology or create economic impact in the North East of Scotland and the wider UK.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be hosting a series of events covering every aspect of TechX.

Sessions will outline eligibility requirements, the application process, advice for strong submissions and key features of the programme. This is also an opportunity to engage directly with our team and ask any questions you may have.
